Pair of Antique Cast Iron Gates from France, Circa 1900

A Pair of Tall, Elaborately Ornamented, Antique Painted French Cast Iron Entry/Garden Gates in the Francis I Revival Style -Condition:  Griffin head missing on one gate and one Griffin  leg on 2nd gate missing. Chipping to paint, minor rubs to iron. 

These gates have a center medallion surrounding a young woman holding a tambourine in one hand and reaching for a mountain goat at her side with the other hand.  There is ornamentation of putti, urns of flowers and fruit, griffins, salamanders (Francis I’s impressa used on Royal buildings), c-scrolls, and drapery swags.
These gates are versatile in their usage:  entry gates, garden gates, headboards for a bed, wall decoration, tops for coffee tables and more.
