This is a hand forged antique 'cremailliere' from France. These used to hang in the fireplace of a home, and its purpose was to heat your food over the fire. An adjustable arm extends downward to hold hanging pots. This example is from the 1700's and is beautifully adorned with several iron Fleur de Lys'. Today it would make an excellent fireplace or kitchen accessory.
