GERMAN MUSICAL BIRD CAGE AUTOMATON

This piece retains a sticker label: Made in Germany. It was fashioned, in the German manner, with singing birds; each with articulated head, beak and tail. They are housed within a domed cage with repousse base. Automata such as this were popular as gifts and amusements in the 18th through early 20th centuries.
