A spectacular cloisonne vase of tapered form on silver mounts executed in silver-sculpted wires of various thicknesses. The banded lip and foot of the vase is decorated with geometric designs, while a marvelous collar of white kiku buds and lacy karakusa encircles the neckline. Elegant flowers with leafy foliage cover the deep blue-enameled ground asymmetrically, while small groves of kiku rise from below. Raised silver foliate-form cartouche on the base reads ''Yoshio.'' Height, 7.25''. Meiji Period. Japan. |
