This mug was made for the St. Ananias Club of Topeka, Kansas around 1876. It features a snake wrapped around the mug and forming the handle. "Consecrated to St. Ananias is printed in cobalt blue on the front. The club had 29 original members. Its purpose was as a social club and the motto was "Unadulterated Truth." The officers had humorous titles such as perpetual president, phenomenal prevaricator, efficacious equivicator, libelous linguist, illustrious illusionist and so on. It closed its doors upon the death of President Kingman in 1904. Small tight hairline.
