A Large French “Camaieu Blue” Faience Ewer-Mid 1900s
|
|
This magnificent tall French Ewer has been hand painted in a painting technique called Camaieu Blue or Cameo Blue on a glazed white ground. The motifs are in the Regence style. The ewer has a most unusual shape in that the body is flat on two sides and curved on the other two sides. The body rests upon a square four footed base that is turned at a diagonal to the flat sides of the body. This stunning French ewer will be an attribute to any area it is placed in.
