Superb diminutive Neo-Egyptian cabinet (Etagere) with original galleried top. This etager has exceptional mahogany of 'Plum Pudding' quality. All the brass mounts and knobs retain their original 'Fire Gilt'. This cupboard is entirely original.
The Egyptian taste began when one of Napoleons architects published his drawings of Egyptian buildings and artifacts in 1802 which was sold in London. There followed a flurry of Neo-Egyptian objects for 8 - 10 years only, which makes this fairly easy to date .
