A Large Monumental Classical Gilt Gesso Convex Girandole Mirror with Carved Eagle, Flora, and candleholders, English/American, c. 1810
This striking Girandole is completely original with a strikingly well-carved dynamic eagle holding a chain, all of which is supported by deeply carved acanthus centering a dish with Classical lion’s head.
Please view the various details below, in addition to the comparative eagles of this school. Girandoles are the most desirable and engaging of the mirror forms, in our opinion.
This mirror is completely original, with new gold leaf over much of the original, with its surface antiquity quite visual.
Height: 52 1/2 in. Width: 45 in.
