A Queen Anne Tiger Maple Server, Highboy Base, Rhode Island, c.1760

At one time, this was the base of a two-part traditional highboy, to which beautiful antique matching tiger maple boards were added to the top of the base, facilitating as it's use as a server or a large dressing bureau. The cabriole slipper feet are a Rhode Island/Newport trait and the structure itself is Newport style, i.e. the backboards dovetailed into the sides, which are a trademark of great quality for furniture made to last. Also, note the Newport style drawer bottoms, with old nails, etc. Also, note the beautifully shaped skirt with drop pendant.

Interestingly, the highboy must have been huge, because the base is quite high, and perfectly functions as a server. The tiger maple is of the best quality with strong markings throughout.

Height: 38 in. Width: 38 1/2 in. Depth: 21 in.
