Price: $ 5,400 Inquire or Make OfferThis table, of small scale, (width 31 in.) was acquired directly from the family of the original owners and is in its original untouched condition. What we understand is that this belonged to the family of a sea captain who had the ceramic top painted on one of his voyages to Italy. There is quite a bit of family history written on the back. However, we have not been able to decipher all of the information. This ceramic top, called scagliola, was a 19th century technique emulating a marble top, which has been faux painted on its outer border with a pastoral scene within. The top is in its original untouched condition, as is the desirable fluted base, which has an old, crusty surface. This is a useful and handsome small center table, and certainly an important piece of family history.
Height: 28 in. Diameter: 31 1/4 in.
