Mid-late 19th Century French Painted Tapestry of Empress Eugenie, Napoleon III's wife, with her ladies in waiting. The original oil painting by Winterhalter is in Rome. This copy is from a French Estate. It could be a "cartoon" done before the original painting, or possibly a hand painted copy from the original oil painting hanging in the Musee Napoleonic in Rome.

The large painted tapestry has been a part of my collection for a while and truly anchors my gallery. The coloring is soft, subtle and the stories behind the scene are endless. Needs a large wall. Has been archivally prepared to last.
